What hockey trading cards should I buy?
I’m trying to buy Christmas presents for my boyfriend, and he’s been into hockey trading cards lately. I heard him mention that there are different levels of Upper Deck trading cards, going from super ridiculously expensive to basically worthless. I want to pick cards from a set I can afford, but don’t know what’s good and what isn’t. Can someone list the order of the series for me in terms of worth?
You could find a card shop and buy an older complete set.
The 1990-91 Upper Deck or Opeechee Premier are awesome for the amount of rookie cards.
Jagr, Fedorov, Bure, Mogilney, Modano, Nolan, Sundin, Blake,Joseph, Roenick and more. Since rookie cards are what collectors truly crave, these sets are legendary. No years come close to the amount of superstar rookies produced here.
The good news is that the card market is down right now and you should find these at a decent price, between 40 and 60 dollars. This is actually a great investment as they will surely increase in value.
GoalieGirl I completely disagree. Other collectors value cards and put a real price on them. Check out how much a Gretzky, Orr or Howe rookie card is worth. Like any investment you just have to do your homework.
